UNB, Sirajganj :
Deputy Inspector General of Police (Rajshahi Range) AKM Hafiz Akhter on Saturday instructed policemen not to stop trucks carrying cattle on highways ahead of Eid-ul-Azha.
The road condition has worsened after rain and flood, he noted. “It needs to be fixed within the next several days,” the DIG said at a joint meeting in Hatikamrul Gol-Chattor.
Akhter directed police to ensure that makeshift cattle markets are not set up on roads.
Muslims in Bangladesh are all set to celebrate Eid-ul-Azha, their second-biggest religious festival, on August 12.
Dhaka Range Additional DIG Saleh Mohammad Tanvir, Rajshahi Range Additional DIG Misharul Arif, Deputy Commissioner Dr Faruk Ahmed, Superintendent of Police Tutul Chakraborty, SP (Highways) Jahangir Hossain, Roads and Highways Department Executive Engineer Arshaful Islam Paramanik among others, were present.
