Deputy Inspector General of Police (Rajshahi Range) AKM Hafiz Akhter on Saturday instructed policemen not to stop trucks carrying cattle on highways ahead of Eid-ul-Azha.
The road condition has worsened after rain and flood, he noted. “It needs to be fixed within the next several days,” the DIG said at a joint meeting in Hatikamrul Gol-Chattor.
Akhter directed police to ensure that makeshift cattle markets are not set up on roads.
Muslims in Bangladesh are all set to celebrate Eid-ul-Azha, their second-biggest religious festival, on August 12.
