Staff Reporter :
The High Court (HC) warned Supreme Court lawyer Md Eunus Ali Akond on Tuesday for filing writ petitions as public interest litigation without being an aggrieved person.
“Don’t move any writ petition out of hobby before this court. If we reject your petitions, we will impose a heavy cost on you. The decision is yours whether you will move the petitions,” the HC bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Sardar Md Rashed Jahangir told Eunus Ali. The bench said this when Eunus Ali sought permission from the bench for placing two separate writ petitions he filed recently for their hearing.
In the petitions, Eunus Ali challenged the legality of ongoing lockdowns and sought an order for a judicial inquiry into the altercation involving a female doctor, an executive magistrate, and law enforcers over movement pass on April 18.
Contacted, Eunus Ali told the media that he placed a mention slip before the HC bench led by Justice M Enayetur Rahim for hearing the writ petition challenging the lockdown. He said hearing of the petition would be held later on.
“I will move the petition before another HC bench seeking an order for a judicial inquiry into the incident of an altercation involving a female doctor, an executive magistrate, and law enforcers,” he added.
