National Human Rights Commission Chairman Mizanur Rahman urged the police not to make fun with people.
The Human Rights chief said this while addressing a seminar at National Press Club in city on Saturday.
Mizanur Rahman said that after two or three days of detention, the law enforcing agencies produce the detainees claiming that the accused is produced before the court by
24 hours, which is one kind of mockery with the people. He urged the law enforcing agencies to stop this type of mockery with people.
“We suggested to take harder steps to stop political violence but the activity of law enforcement agencies have increased oppression which created distrust on them,” the NHRC chairman alleged.
We have to get relieve from this situation. Otherwise, more serious condition will be created, he added.
Executive Director of Ain O Salish Kendra Advocate Sultana Kamal, Additional inspector general of police Mokhlesur Rahman, Professor Dr Alauddin, Vice Chancellor of Mawlana Bhashani Science and Technology University attended the meeting among others.
