Staff Reporter :
Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda has instructed the returning officers not to compromise their honesty while exercising their duties during the election.
“Nobody should compromise their neutrality
and honesty during the election,” he said.
“As employees of the republic, we should keep in mind that we are accountable to the people and the Constitution, but not to any political party or individual or coterie,” he said.
The CEC said it at a training programme organised for returning and assistant returning officers at Nirbachan Bhaban in the city’s Agargaon area.
The voters always want us to present them a free, fair and acceptable election. Holding a free, fair and credible election depends on your performance,” said the CEC.
He also requested them to refrain from showing any weakness for anyone, advising to remain alert so that no irregularities can take place anywhere.
