Head Coach of Bangladesh Cricket team Russell Domingo became angry after he heard that few persons are criticising openers Soumya Sarkar and Mohammad Naim for their poor performance in the outgoing five-match T20I series against Australia. Though Bangladesh defeated Australia by 4-1, Soumya Sarkar scored 2, 0, 2, 8 and 16 runs in his five innings. Mohammad Naim scored altogether 91 runs from five matches.
But Russell Domingo does not criticise the duo for their dismal performance. He said, ” Some critics started to criticise Soumya after his two innings. But Soumya became the Player of the Series before the Australia campaign. Everybody have to support the players. If anybody failed to perform in one or two matches, he should not be dropped from the squad. Everybody should become sober before criticize any player.”
Domingo said about Naim, ” Naim could not play big innings in the first two T20I matches. But according to the latest ICC T20I ranking, Naim has taken the 29th spot as a batsman. There is no Bangladeshi batter, who has taken upper spot from Naim.”
Domingo said, ” No opener could cut a good figure in this series. Australian bowling attack was extremely well. Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Starc are world-class bowlers. The wickets of the matches were also tough for a batsman. Soumya and Naim tried to give their best.”
