A Dhaka court on Tuesday framed charge against juvenile Khadiza Akter Sumi, domestic help of slain Special Branch Inspector Mahfuzur Rahman and his wife Swapna Begum in a case filed in connection with the murder of the couple.

Metropolitan Sessions Judge’s Court of Dhaka also granted bail to Sumi on Tuesday noon after hearing and fixed June 16 to record the depositions of the witnesses in the case. Sumi was accused of assisting the murder of the couple.
“The 15-year old Sumi will be released from Gazipur’s correctional facility after her parents submitted her bail documents on May 26,” said her lawyer Syed Nazmul Huda.
On May 6, Oishee Rahman, the only daughter of the couple and two of her friends, Mizanur Rahman Rony and Asaduzzaman Jony, were indicted in a case filed on charge of the murder of the couple. Dhaka’s Metropolitan Sessions Judge Md Jahurul Haque framed the charge and scheduled June 5 for hearing.
Earlier, the court transferred the case against housemaid Sumi to the First Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge’s Court to be indicted by a juvenile court.
Earlier on March 4, Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police submitted the charge sheet accusing Oishee as the key suspect and three others on charge of the murder of her parents.
On August 16 last year, police recovered the decomposed bodies of Mahfuz and Swapna, locked in the bathroom of their Chamelibagh rented flat in the capital.
The couple’s 19-year old daughter Oishee Rahman was missing since the discovery of the body, and turned herself to police few days later.
Sumi and Oishee’s friends ‘Rony’ and ‘Jony’ were arrested following her surrender.
Police in a charge sheet of the case filed in connection with the sensational double murder on Mar 9 accused Sumi of assisting the murders. Oishee’s friends were accused of providing shelter to her.
