The deaths of dolphin and fishes have alarmingly increases at only natural fish breeding centre Halda River in North Chittagong recently .
The last one dead dolphin was recovered from Kagatia Azimghat area of Halda on Thursday .
Sources said, a total of 15 dead dolphins of different sizes were recovered from Halda in last few months.
The weight of last one Dolphin so recovered is about 40 Kgs. When contacted , Upazila Fishery Officer Aminul Islam said, the dead dolphin was handed over to Marine Fishery Department of Chittagong University for research work and to find out the reasons of deaths.
Meanwhile the environmentalists expressed annoyed over the frequent death of dolphins recently .
Environment scientist of Chittagong University Prof Humayun Kabir told that the reasons of deaths of dolphins need to be find out immediately otherwise the Dolphin enriched Halda River will lose its traditions in future.
He said the industrial effluents including chemicals of tea gardens are regularly dumping in the river .
Moreover, he observes to save the Dolphins and curb mother fishes Halda should remain free from plying mechanized boats and unauthorised sand lifting by dredgers indiscriminately from Halda immediately .
