Dolphin caught in Dhaleshwari River in Tangail !

A large dolphin, popularly known as shushak, was caught by a fisherman through angle (borshi) from Dhaleshwari river at Sahabatpur union of Nagarpur upazila in Tangail district.
Hundreds of people were went to the Jangalia bazar to see the dolphin on Sunday.
The dolphin weighed almost 100 kg.
A young man named Sentu threw the angle in the river Dhaleshwari on Saturday night to catch fish.
When the young man saw his angle was striking and he tried to retrieve the fish, but saw a huge dolphin with the hook.
The dolphin was brought to land with the help of locals, which died shortly afterwards.
As soon as the news spread after the dolphin was taken to the local Jangalia market thousands of people from far and wide flocked there to visit the dolphin.
However, the fisherman sold the dolphin at Tk 15,000 to a local man.
Nagarpur Upazila Fisheries Officer Masum Billa said, “the dolphin is on the way to extinction in Bangladesh. It is a protected and un-harmful mammal. If the dolphin was alive, we would have rescued it and set it free in the river.”
