Naeem Islam’s century went in vain as Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club notched a six-wicket victory over Mohammedan Sporting Club in the 7th round match of the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Monday.
Chasing an ordinary target of 189 runs, Doleshwar reached their destination scoring 192 for 4 in 41.3 overs riding on opener Imtiaz Hossain’s top score of 88 runs.
Imtiaz featured seven boundaries and three sixes off 109 balls and was trapped lbw off Enamul Haque Jr bowling at 163/4 in 36.1 overs.
All-rounder Nasir Hossain stayed for unbeaten 37 off 39 balls, including four boundaries and one six, while Raqibul Hasan (25), Robiul Islam Robi (16) and Rony Talukdar (not out 12) were the other double figure scorers for the side.
Ariful Haque bagged two wickets while Enamul Haque Jr and Subashis Roy took one wicket each.
Sent in to bat first, Mohammedan SC finished the innings on 188 for all in 47.4 overs spurred by Naeem Islam’s century.
Number-5 batsman Naeem scored 100 off 147 balls, including 10 boundaries, and was bowled out by Farhad Reza as the last batsman at 188 in 47.4 overs.
Ariful Haque scored 29 while Nazmul Hossain Milon, Lankan Upul Tharanga added 14 and 10 runs respectively.
Farhad Reza grabbed three wickets for economic 26 runs in 10 overs and was adjudged man of the match. Al-Amin Hossain also bagged three wickets for 34 runs and Rejaul Karim took two wickets.
With the day’s result, Doleshwar collected 10 points from seven matches with five wins and two losses.
