Qatar has sought Bangladesh’s support for its nominee and Qatar Emir’s Cultural Adviser Dr Hamad Bin Abdulaziz Al-Kawari who will contest for the next director general of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (Unesco).
Bangladesh will “consider extending its support” to him as Qatar’s well-deserved candidate for the
top post of the Unesco and the matter is likely to be confirmed during his visit to Bangladesh. His particulars have already been forwarded to Dhaka.
Bangladesh Ambassador to Qatar Ashud Ahmed met the Cultural Adviser, also the former minister for culture, art and heritage, on Wednesday and discussed various issues of the bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Qatar, including the Unesco issue, according to Bangladesh Embassy in Doha.
