The BNP on Saturday claimed that the documentary film ‘Hasina, a daughter’s tale’ depicted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s life sketch released in cinema halls before election is clearly violation of election code of conducts.
“Awami League, especially The Prime Minister, is violating election rules frequently. But the subservient Election Commission is silent about that,” said BNP Senior Joint-Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi in a press briefing in the party’s Nayapaltan office.
He said, “Prime minister has taken interviews from her party nomination seekers in PM’s government residence Gono Bhaban which is clearly violation of election code of conduct, but the subservient EC turned blind eyes to that.”
The BNP leader said, “Hasina, a daughter’s tale featured Prime Minister’s political statement, views and work. Such a documentary released in this time is violation of code of conducts according to the election code of conduct Section -10.”
Rizvi said, “The docu-film has been produced by Dewan Mujib Siddique Bobi and State Minister for Energy Nasrul Hamid Bipu on behalf of Center for Research and Information (CRI). The CRI office is situated at Sheikh Hasina’s private residence at Dhanmondi’s Sudha Sadan. The docu-film is being screened at Dhaka’s Star Cineplex, Block buster cinemas and Modhumita cinema halls and in Chattogram.”
“Huge posters of the film are hanged across the city. Besides, different TV chanels and TV screens instanced besides city streets are publishing Sheikh Hasina’s speech regularly. All of these illegal campaigns are being conducted with huge excitement. But the EC has no reaction on the matter,” Rizvi said. He said the level playing field is yet to meet due to such inaction of the EC.
Replying to a query, Rizvi said that the party has sold 4580 nomination forms as the last date over Friday.
