Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleque said the doctors should have the mentality to provide services at rural areas to ensure health care to marginalised people.
“Shortage of human resources was the major obstacle to ensuring smooth health care services for the people…We are recruiting doctors phase by phase but they should also have the mentality to work in rural areas to serve the grassroots’ people,” he said.
He said this on Tuesday while speaking as the chief guest at an ambulance distribution programme at Health Directorate office, said a press release.
He distributed 15 keys of jeep for professors of medical colleges, five for mother and child care centers and five modernized ambulances for advanced cardiac patients across the country.
Secretary (Health education) of the ministry Sheikh Yusuf presided over the programme while Director General of Directorate General of Health Services Professor Dr Abul Kalam Azad, Additional Secretary Professor Sirajul Islam, Dhaka Medical College Director Brig Gen AKM Nasir Uddin also spoke at the meeting, among others.
