A mother was killed allegedly due to doctor’s negligence two hours after giving birth to a baby at a private clinic in the district headquarter on Sunday evening.
The deceased was identified as Moushumi Akhter, 22, daughter of Sayedur Rahman, resident of Rasulpur village in Khetlal Upazila in the district.
Moushumi’s maternal uncle Adv. Aminur Rahman claimed, Moushumi with thyroid problem was admitted at Kamol Memorial Hospital prior to complaining labor pain on Friday supposing her normal delivery very complicated.
Moushumi underwent surgery at the hospital’s operation theatre around 2:30 on Saturday after being suggested by the practicing specialist gynecologist of the clinic. Although UNB has obtained her name, we are withholding it for further verification regarding gathe deayh. Later, family members kept faith in the doctor’s suggestion as she had been supervising Moushumi, the mother, since her pregnancy was confirmed.
Moushumi died around around 6pm, two hours after giving birth of a baby girl as her doctor was not present after the operation, rather nurturing her with proper care as needed for a thyroid patient, claimed Aminur.
