Police arrested a doctor and his manager who were the proprietor of Bandhan Hospital and Diagnostic Center for negligence of duty after death of a lady patient on Friday night in Jashore town.
The arrestee were identified as Prostosh Kumar Kundu and Manager Jahangir Alam of the clinic.
The deceased Moina Khatun 25 is the wife of Ismail Hossain Hiru, a grocery shopkeeper in Gazirghat Road area of Palbirimor in Jashore.
The deceased’s brother, Saiful Islam, said the pregnant Moina Khatun felt ill on Friday evening. At that time, the family members took her to Bandhan Hospital and Diagnostic Center on Ghop Jail Road in the town.
Prostosh Kumar Kundu saw the patient and said that hes condition was critical. She has to undergo an operation right now. Moina Khatun was taken to the operation room at 9:30 pm. Then at 11 pm the doctor came out of the operation room and told the family members that the patient and child were healthy. But the patient started to tremble suddenly at 11 :30 pm and died shortly thereafter.
After the patient died, they were asked to bring two injections and one bag of blood. When they go to the clinic, they are informed that the patient’s condition is in danger.
She has to be taken to Khulna. Even after death, the caretakers injected the patient.
The accused doctor, Prostosh Kumar Kundu, said the patient was died in the operation room.
Jashore Kotwali Police inspector(investigation) Tasmim Alam said Bandhan the relatives of the patient complained orally at the police station. He then arrested the accused doctor Paritosh Kumar Kundu and manager Jahangir Alam.
Police have recovered the body and sent it to Jashore Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy. He said that investigation will be taken against the accused.
