The Bhangura Upazila Health Complex of Pabna eight out of 14 doctors. Besides, caesarean section is not performed here as there is no anesthesia and gynecologist for a long time. But a doctor from this health complex has performed caesarean section on pregnant mothers in the private clinic of the upazila.
Locals ask, if a government doctor can operate in a private clinic, why don’t it in the health complex? They also said that it costs them a lot for caesarean section in a private clinic.
In this regard, Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Halima Khanam said, any doctor can operate if he/she has practice. However, the operation cannot be allowed here without appointment of a specialist doctor in the health complex. She said OT is running and normal delivery is performed for pregnant mothers.
Meanwhile in 2018, the health complex was upgraded to 50 beds, but no consultant doctor has been appointed there till date. In reality, its effectiveness has not started. There is also no resident doctor. Due to the lack of technicians, the new X-ray machine has been lying idle for a long time, said Dr. Halima Khanam.
