Dhaka North City Corporation will start fining contractors and others for keeping construction materials on roads from Sunday.
“The days of love have ended. Now we will fine any one if he keeps construction materials on roads in the city from
December 22,” DNCC Mayor Atiqul Islam said it while speaking at a meeting in LGRD ministry in the capital.
The meeting was organised on ‘keeping the city clean’. The DNCC mayor said, the contractors are getting complince charges from city corporations in case of development work. In this view, they will not be spared from counting fine in this regard.
The mayor said, keeping of construction materials on roads cannot be allowed for public safety.
“I will physically inspect roads under my jurisdiction to find out where the building materials are piled on. Then I will take action,” he said.
He urged the house and the landowners to stop using roads as stores for those materials.
The mayor also asked Gazipur city mayor to take measures to stop piling garbage and using as truck terminals on roads in the area (Gazipur).
“If Gazipur Mayor failed to stop using illegal truck terminals and piling waste on roads under his jurisdictions, the DNCC will take action. Because it has seriously created obstacles to vehicles movements on the highway,” DNCC Mayor said.
