DNCC scraps leave of officials in bid to combat dengue

Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) has cancelled the leave of all employees of its two departments in order to keep fight against Dengue fever and mosquito menace.
DNCC Mayor Atiqul Islam said it at an awareness rally on Dengue-Chikungunya on the Manik Mia Avenue on Friday.
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal was present on the rally.
Mayor Atiq said, leave of waste management, and mosquito control departments’ employees had been cancelled until eradication of Aedes mosquito from the city. So, they will have to be present at offices during holidays on Eid-ul-Azha.
He also requested the city inhabitants to keep their houses clean and not to keep clean water on spots because Aedes mosquito usually grows there.
Bangladesh national cricket team former skipper Akram Khan, all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraj, actors Fedous Ahmed, Riaz and Aruna Biswas and noted activist-columnist Syed Abul Maksud, among others, took part in the awareness rally.
