DNCC panel mayor’s son sent to jail in narcotics case

A Dhaka court yesterday sent a son of Dhaka North City Corporation Panel Mayor in the jail in a narcotics case.
Accused Rafiqul Islam Rubel is a son of DNCC panel mayor Zamal Mostafa, who is also the President of Awami League’s Kafrul Thana unit and Councilor of Word No. 4 of DNCC.
Magistrate Devdas Chandras Adhikary of Dhaka CMM Court passed the order rejecting the bail plea of Rubel. Advocate Ariful Islam moved a bail petition on behalf of Rubel.
On Thursday, Pallabi Police Station Sub-Inspector Pintu Kumar Chowdhury produced the accused in the court with an appeal to keep him in the jail.
While arresting Rubel, police recovered 75 Yaba and 11 Puria (a Puria includes 5.5 gram)
Heroin from his possession. On Wednesday night, police arrested Rubel from Mirpur 11 area, while he was on the spot with motorcycle to sell the narcotics.
On Thursday, Pallabi Police Station Sub-Inspector Zahir Uddin filed a case under the Narcotics Control Act.
