DNCC mayor urges the Rupnagar canal occupants to leave

After successfully rescuing Lautla canal, Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) has taken initiative to rescue Rupnagar canal now.
Mayor Atiqul Islam said that a campaign would be launched to free the canal without any notice. He told it at a press conference on Saturday (May 14th) marking the two-year anniversary of his inauguration as mayor.
At the time the mayor urged the occupants of Rupnagar canal to leave. You will not be given any notice. We may evict any time.
” Expressing displeasure at the Kalyanpur canal, the mayor said, “about 170 acres out of 173 acres have already been occupied.
Not just the occupation, the occupier also built home-market and others establishments. Can this be imagined in a civilized country? ‘
The mayor said that all preparations are underway to free the Kalyanpur canal.
At the press conference, Chief executive Officer ( CEO) Selim Reza, Chief Health Officer Brigadier General. Jobaidur Rahman, Chief Engineer Moh. Amirul Islam, Chief Property Officer Md. Mozammel Haque, Chief Waste Management Officer Commodore SM Shafiq-ul Islam and councilors of different wards were present.
