Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) on Saturday launched a programme to eradicate Aedes mosquito and raise awareness in Mirpur.
Brig Gen Md Mominur Rahman Mamun, DNCC’s chief health officer, inaugurated the programme in Paikpara Government A-type Colony area.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) recently declared five
DNCC wards – 1, 12, 16, 20, and 31 – as vulnerable.
Brig Gen Mamun said DNCC has been conducting special programmes in these wards beside their regular campaigns in other wards.
He urged city dwellers not to throw wastes here and there and asked them to keep their houses and buildings clean.
Bangladesh experienced a massive dengue outbreak last year. The government confirmed that dengue had claimed the lives of 164 people in 2019.
Last year, 101,354 people were hospitalised with dengue in the country. Of them, 101,037 made full recovery.
