Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) is set to begin a campaign afresh to make the city dwellers aware to abide by the traffic rules and regulations for bringing discipline in traffic management system. The DMP has taken up a specific work plan to make success the 17-day awareness campaign that starts from January 15 and ends on January 31. As part of some measures of bringing discipline in traffic management system, the DMP has decided to distribute leaflets, placards, festoons, and guide books among the city dwellers alongside with holding different awareness programmes involving honorable people of the society.
It has also decided to involve members from rover scouts, Red Crescent, girls guide and BNCC in this endavour while traffic police and volunteers will be engaged in maintaining traffic discipline during period of resuming classes and their breaks up of the schools and colleges beside main road.
The DMP will conduct special drive and mobile courts operation to take legal action for violating traffic rules such as using hydraulic horn, hotter, and beckon light, driving vehicle on wrong side and for stopping buses without bus stands. Check posts will be set up at 29 strategic points in the DMP area to bring discipline in the traffic system.
Passers-by will be encouraged to use 30 foot over bridges and keep the doors of buses shut till the next bus stand.
Signals will be controlled with remote control at intersections from Shaheed Jahangir
Gate to Zero Point via Farmgate, Sonargaon, Shahbag, Matshya Bhaban, Kadam Foara, and High Court while the road stretching from Farmgate to Satrasta will be remained open for traffic movement.
