The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) in a day-long drive on Sunday filed 2422 cases on charges of traffic rule violation.
Traffic division in their simultaneous drives on the city streets filed the cases against traffic rule violators and realised over Taka 20 lakh, said an official release of DMP.
It also dumped 29 vehicles and wrecked 383 others. Of the cases, 190 were lodged for driving on the wrong sides, 76 for using hydraulic horn, seven for using hotter and beckon light and 20 others for using tinted glass, it also said.
Some 84 cases including 39 video cases were lodged against drivers of different modes of vehicles on charges of talking over mobile phone while they were driving.
A total of 728 cases were lodged against motorcycle owners and 62 motorbikes were also seized for violation of the traffic rule during the period.
