Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has taken decision to open a help desk from Thursday to stop giving of threats for extortion over telephone, and internet harassment.
A monthly crime conference held at DMP headquarters took the decision on Wednesday.
According to the decision, the desk will provide legal assistance to encounter the threats for ransom, extortion, forced disappearance and other issues, said DMP Deputy Commissioner Muntasirul Islam.
The police official said, the desk will be set at DMP
headquarters and it will officially work from Thursday. The victims are requested to lodge complaints against the criminals, he added.
According to him, police will take necessary actions after scrutinizing the complaints.
