The Traffic Department of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has filed 2416 cases and fined Tk 7.49 lakh for violating traffic rules in separate special drives in the capital on Friday.
Besides, 15 vehicles were dumped and 417 other vehicles were put on the wrecker during the day-long drive on Friday, according to sources at the Traffic Department.
Besides, cases were filed against 167 vehicles for plying those on the wrong side of the roads, 43 vehicles for using hydraulic horns, nine for using beacon lights and six vehicles for using dark-tinted glass.
The Traffic Department will continue its drive aiming to reduce chaotic situation in the city streets, the source added.
