DMP files 5,816 cases over traffic rules violations

The traffic division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has filed a total 5,816 cases over traffic rules violations in the capital on Friday.
“Police realized Taka 26, 62,950 as fine from the traffic offenders. Police also sent 22 vehicles to dumping and 535 more to wrecking,” a DMP press release said here on Saturday.
The DMP sources further said cases were filed against 1,087 vehicles for going into wrong way, 115 vehicles for using hydraulic horns, three for using hooters and beacon light and eight vehicles were booked for using black glasses on windows.
“Cases were also filed against 2,002 motorcycles for violating traffic rules and 88 more were seized. Five drivers were also booked for talking on mobile phones while driving,” the release added.
