DMP files 4,892 cases over traffic irregularities

The traffic division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) filed a total of 4,892 cases for violating traffic rules in the capital on Friday.
Police at the time fined the traffic offenders Taka 20, 50,300 and sent 28 vehicles to dumping ground. Apart from this, a total of 529 vehicles were sent for wrecking.
Cases were also filed against 1,483 motorcycles for violating traffic rules and 112 more were seized.
A total of six drivers were also booked for talking on mobile phones while driving, added the DMP press release.
A total of 173 vehicles were sued for using hydraulic horns, three vehicles for using hooters and beacon lights, 710 vehicles for moving into the wrong way and 11 microbuses were booked for using black glasses on windows, said a DMP press release today.
