Dhaka Metropolitan Police and Chattogram Metropolitan Police have imposed strict restrictions on traffic movement in the cities by guarding check posts on the entry and exit points.
Confirming the matter, DMP Deputy Commissioner Masudur Rahman told the media, “We have issued an instruction about controlling people’s entry and exit in the capital.”
DMP sources said, they have taken several steps to make sure that no person can enter or leave Dhaka city unless there is any emergency.
According to the DMP sources, vehicles engaged in providing emergency services and carrying everyday essentials will be out of the purview of the restriction.
“If anyone violates the instruction, necessary action will be taken against them as per the law,” Masudur Rahman said, adding that the DMP seeks cooperation from the city dwellers to enforce the restriction.
“We have erected cheek posts at the entry and exit points in the city’s Gabtoli area. We are strictly following the instructions from this morning,” said Jahidul Islam, Assistant Commissioner of DMP (Traffic – West division).
