Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 42 people on charges of selling and consuming drugs during different anti-narcotics drives in the last 24 hours till 6am on Wednesday. The Detective Branch (DB) of the DMP in association with local police stations carried out the drives simultaneously starting at 6am on Tuesday. A total of 21,870 pieces of yaba tablets, 99 grams of heroin, more than 3.34 kilograms of cannabis were recovered from the arrested persons’ possession, said a DMP press release here.
A total of 25 cases were filed with different police stations under the Narcotics Control Act in these regards.
On the other hand, DMP’s DB Wari zonal team arrested four drug dealers along with 6,300 pieces of yaba in a raid in Kalachadpur area of Gulshan. The arrested are Mohammad Faruk Hossain, 40, Mohammad Billal Hossain, 38, Mohammad Russell Mia, 30, and Mosammat Rehena Begum, 37.
