DMCH & CMH signs MoU on bone marrow transplantation

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on bone marrow transplantation was signed on Tuesday between Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) and Dhaka Combined Military Hospital (CMH).
DMCH Director Brigadier General Mohammad Mizanur Rahman and CMH Director Brigadier General M Mahbubur Rahman signed the MoU on behalf of their respective organizations, said a ISPR press release.
The bone marrow transplantation is effective way for treatment complicated diseases like Thalassemia and Blood Cancer.
With the consent of the Prime Minister and under the arrangement of the Army chief, initiative has been taken to launch a Bone Marrow Transplantation (BMT) centre at the CMH.
The MoU was signed as part of cooperation between the BMT centre of Dhaka Medical College Hospital and the Combined Military Hospital.
Civil and Military officials including DGMS Major General SM Motahar Hossain, Consultant Surgeon of Dhaka CMH Major General Munshi Mohammad Mujibur Rahman, Consultant Physician Major General M Abdul Ali Mia, Commandant of Armed Forces Medical College Major General M Fasiur Rahman, Commandant of Armed Forces Institute of Pathology Major General Debasish Saha and Project Director of BMT centre of DMCH Professor M A Khan were present.
The CMH has a plan to start bone marrow transplantation from the next month under the cooperation with Dhaka Medical College Hospital and Tata Memorial center, Kolkata.
