CU Correspondent :
A Chittagong court here on Tuesday ordered the CID to exhume the body of the Chhatra League leader Diyaz Irfan Chowdhury for further autopsy after a plea from the department.
Senior Judicial Magistrate Shiblu Kumar Dey passed the order, directing the Forensic Department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) to form a three-member team to take necessary action in this regard.
The court also directed the CID to exhume the body in presence of an Executive Magistrate and a District Magistrate.
It is mentionable that the Chhatra League, central committee’s Assistant Secretary Diyaz Irfan Chowdhury was found hanging in his own room on November 20. After the death incident, his family and the supporters repeatedly claimed that it was a cold blooded murder, but the autopsy report prepared by the CMCH forensic department found no sign of killing, rather marked the death as suicidal one.
A day after the autopsy report was handed over to the police, Diyaz’s mother Jaheda Amin Chowdhury filed a murder case in the Chief Judicial Magistrate court, Chittagong,
prosecuting 10 BCL leaders of CU chapter, including BCL President Alamgir Tipu and an Assistant Proctor Anwar Hossain.
Diyaz’s elder sister Advocate Jubayda Sarwar Chowdhury confirmed it to this correspondent and said that the court ordered the CID to exhume the body. ‘We frequently alleged that the autopsy report prepared by the CMCH Forensic Department was ill-motivated,’ said Jubayda.
Earlier, the supporters of Diyaz and his family members in a human chain under the banner of ‘Socheton Chhatra Samaj’ demanded the checking of the CMCH Principal’s mobile phone call list, complaining that the Principal might have motivated the autopsy report.
