The 5th Dhaka Divisional Commissioner Gold Cup Football Tournament will begin on May 30 with host Munshiganj district taking on Tangail district in the lone opening match at the Munshiganj stadium.
A total of seventeen district teams, split into four groups, will compete in the competition, organized by Dhaka Divisional Sports Association (DDSA). The competition matches will be played simultaneously at the 14 district venues.
The top four teams from each zone will qualify for the semifinals while the final is slated on June 20.
The champions team will receive Taka 1,00,000 while the runners up will get Taka 50,000 as prize money.
Besides, the each participating teams of the competition will have Taka 40,000 as participation money.
The budget of the competition has been estimated at Taka 17,00,000.
In this regards a press conference was held on Sunday at the Bangabandhu National Stadium to give all the details of the meet.
DDSA president M Zillur Rrahman, general secretary Kutubuddin Aksir, Abdus Salam member secretary of DDSA and DDSA co coordinator ALI Hossain were, among others, present o the occasion.
Participating teams:
Group A – Shariatpur, Faridpur, Madaripur, Gopalganj and Narayanganj districts.
Group B- Rajbari, Manikganj, Munshiganj and Tangail districts, Group C – Netrokona, Gazipur, Narsingdi and Kishorganj districts.
Group D- Mymenshing, Dhaka, Jamalpur and Sherpur districts.
