The Marcel 1st Division Chess League begins today from 11.00 am at Bangladesh Chess Federation hall-room. Bangladesh Chess Federation has organized the chess tournament under auspices of Marcel.
FM Iqbal Anwar Dawn, First Senior Additional Director of Walton Group will inaugurate the tournament as the chief guest while Md Mosharof Hossain (Rajib) Head of Marketing, Marcel (North) will present as the special guest. KM Shahidullah, Chairman of the Tournament Committee will preside over the inaugural ceremony.
A total of 10 teams are taking part in the competition. They are: Fire Service & Civil Defence Sports Club, Access Chess Club, Basir Memorial Chess Club, Debadas Biswas Smirity Sangsad, Mohakhali Pradip Sangha, Farashganj Sporting Club, Protiva Daba Goshti, Destiny, Mir Chess Club and Agrani Bank Limited Daba Dal.
Fire Service & Civil Defence Sports Club, Access Chess Club relegated from Premier Division Chess League while Mir Chess Club, Agrani Bank Limited Daba Dal promoted from Second Division Chess League.
The competition will be held on round robin league basis. Top two teams from the league will get tickets for the Premier Division Chess League of 2016 and bottom two teams will be relegated in the Second Division Chess League.
