Daffodil International University (DIU) has been honored with Merit Award in World Information Technology and Services Alliance (WITSA) 2014 Global ICT Excellence Awards.
The WITSA, the largest international ICT organization, has conferred the award in World Congress on Information Technology 2014 at the WCIT 2014’s Gala Dinner held on September 30, 2014 at in Guadalajara, Mexico. Md Sabur Khan, Chairman of Board of Trustees of Daffodil International University received the award.
The award was given to DIU for setting an example as the Digitized University in Bangladesh, for contributing to the ICT Sector by Inspiring community to the use of ICT; Developing Human Resources in the ICT Sector; for the inclusion of rural students; the “One Student One Laptop” programme through which every student are getting free laptop for Academic Purposes; for organizing events and contests to encourage IT talents; Job Tracking Systems, Learning Feedback Systems, Online Teaching Evaluation Systems, and more.
DIU is the first university in Bangladesh to win the award which is treated as the Nobel award for ICT sector worldwide. The members autonomously nominated DIU as the most qualified candidates considering the criteria such as, demonstration of the effectiveness of the use of ICT; approximate number of people benefiting from the application of ICT, degree of effectiveness of ICT; and, level of innovation used in implementing ICT application.
