DIU welcomes initiating Startup Company

Daffodil International University (DIU) congratulated Government for initiating ‘Startup Bangladesh Ltd’ Company, aiming to financial help of ICT entrepreneurs. A letter of congratulatory with the signature of Dr Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman, Board of Trustees, DIU has been sent to the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology Division recently.
Sabur Khan said, it’s a precious initiative from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. This initiative will fulfill Bangabandhu’s dream of Sonar Bangla. He also thanked Sajeeb Wazed Joy, Advisor to the Prime Minister on Information and Communication Technology for his visionary leadership on Digital Bangladesh.
The letter of congratulatory also covered up that DIU has taken many initiatives for creating Entrepreneurs to support the vision of Bangladesh Government. DIU is the only university in Bangladesh that offers Bachelor Program on Innovation & Entrepreneurship.
The university also launched many international programs such as Hult Prize, Get in the Ring, TEDx, Talent Hunt Scholarship, Entrepreneurship Development Fund (EDF), Startup Idea for Fund, Startup Market, Daffodil Business Incubator (DBI) and more to nurture and incubate startup ideas.
Continuously the university is organizing Industry Academia Lecture Series and Publishing Books on Entrepreneurship with a view to share the knowledge of entrepreneurship among the young minds.
Apart from this, the university has involvement with many national and international initiatives such as Global Entrepreneurship Week, Are You the Next Startup?, Global Money Week, Daffodil ICT Carnival and connected Global Entrepreneurship Network (GEN) to spread the entrepreneurship opportunity in Bangladesh as well as promote the Bangladeshi entrepreneur initiative outside of the world.
The letter also pointed out that while Dr. Md. Sabur Khan was the president of Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industries (DCCI), he took the initiative to create 2000 entrepreneurs in Bangladesh. It should be mentioned that, Daffodil applied to the Ministry of Commerce for getting registration of ‘Startup Bangladesh’ in 2014 but when it came to know that Bangladesh Government is also keen to Startup Bangladesh then Daffodil withdrew their application to welcome Government initiative.
It was mentioned in the letter that DIU will love to work with the Bangladesh Government in any Entrepreneurial venture in near future.
