The Faculty of Law of Dhaka International University (DIU) has arranged a court visit program for its senior law students recently. About 20 students lead by RaisuL Islam Sourav, Senior Lecturer and Coordinator, Department of Law, got the opportunity to observe practical aspects of our justice system and met with the justice seekers directly. They also inspected court documents and visited court proceedings and hearing at Dhaka District and Sessions Judge Court, Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court and Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court. Members of DIU Lawyers’ Alumni Association welcomed them to the court at that moment
During the visit, the students met with Senior Assistant Judge Abdullah-Al-Masum, who briefed them about filing of civil suits, hearing procedure and how to write a civil judgment and said about the importance of gathering technical and practical knowledge from the court arena. KM Imrul Kayes, Additional Metropolitan Session Judge also briefed them about criminal trial and criminal proceedings.
Students were also allowed to check various types of case related documents at that time. This is a routine program of the university where students get the scope of learning beyond classroom. At the courtyard, students were seen busy to compare their academic knowledge with practical aspects. Some of the students watched detail court procedure for the first time in their life. Also, they felt about the importance of visiting court and gathering knowledge first hand.
At the end they met with Md. Mohosin Miah, President, Dhaka Bar Association (DBA), Md. Mosleh Uddin (Jasim), General Secretary, DBA and Metropolitan Public Prosecutor Abdullah Abu and exchanged their views with them.
