Prof Dr SM Mahabubul Haque Majumder, Pro Vice Chancellor of Daffodil International University (DIU) achieved “Mahatma Gandhi Ratno Award-2018”. Mahatma Gandhi Smrity Foundation awarded him this award for his outstanding performance in expansion of higher education in Bangladesh. Mozaffor Hossain Paltu, Former President of Dhaka Mohanagr Awami League and Justice Siddiqur Rahman Miah, Appellate Division of Bangladesh Supreme Court handed over the award as the chief guest and special guest respectively at a colorful award giving ceremony held recently at Shawakt Osman Milonayoyon of Public Library in the capital.
Prof Dr SM Mahabub-Ul-Haque Majumder started his academic career as a lecturer in Chemistry Department at Chittagong University in 1970. He served as Professor and Chairman of Department of Chemistry of Chittagong University from 1996-1999 and acting Registrar of Chittagong University from 1995-1999. Prof Majumder also served as Dean, Curriculum Development and Evaluation Center, National University, Gazipur, 2000-2003.
He joined in DIU in 2005 as Founder Head of the Department of Textile Engineering of DIU. During his long professional life, Prof Majumder enjoyed talent Scholarship, UNESCO Fellowship and Britisah Council Scholarship. Prof Dr SM Mahabub-Ul-Haque Majumder supervised more than 80 students both undergraduate and post graduate level.
He is a life member of Bangladesh Association for the advancement of Science
(BAAS) and Bangladesh Chemical Society (BCS) and Consulting Editor of American Biological Institute.
