Daffodil International University (DIU) and Jobsbd.com jointly organized a grand gathering and round table discussion session to mark Global Money Week on Saturday at DIU Auditorium. The event has been brought by the First Security Islami Bank Ltd where Bangladesh Bank was the chief patron. DIU is as the Lead Promoter of CYFI and Jobsbd.com-as the Lead Training Partner of CYFI hosted the event jointly.
The event was divided into two sessions. In the first session, the Deputy Governor of Bangladesh Bank, SK Sur Chowdhury, formally announced the start of the event. Presided over by Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman, Daffodil Family, the program was also addressed by Prof Dr Yousuf M Islam, Vice Chancellor, the Former Education Secretary, Rene Cuartero, Regional Head, Child& Youth Finance International (CYFI).
In his keynote speech Sur described on different initiative that Bangladesh Bank has initiated before to encourage Saving Habits among the young generations. He also addressed the importance of Financial Literacy and how Bangladesh Bank is working in this field.
Rene Cuartero, then described the CYFI mission and his special feelings for this country. Mr. Rene thanked Daffodil International University and Jobsbd.com for initiating such effort.
Md. Sabur Khan highlighted different activities and initiatives that DIU and Daffodil Family has taken to ensure financial education of its students.
Also he addressed few plans that will ensure a child to have entrepreneur’s mindset. Prof Dr Yusuf M Islam delivered the welcome speech and highlighted on the importance of financial literacy and KM Hasan Ripon-CEO Jobsbd was the host of first session and gave a brief description of Global Money Week.
After the formal inauguration, the special guests of the session joined a very special High-Level Roundtable Discussion on Youth Financial Education and Inclusion. It was the very interesting where leaders from different financial and academic institutions took part.
Prof Dr Abdur Rab, Vice Chancellor Eastern university, Nazrul Islam Khan-The Former Education Secretary, M. Mostafizur Rahman Khan Research and Documentation Expert Access to Information (a2i) Programme, Khalilur Rahman, Managing Director-National Housing Finance and Investment Ltd, MK Aaref, Chief Executive Office- EMK Center, Abu Reza Mohammad Yeahia-DMD-IBBL, Parveen S Huda-Managing Director at Renaissance Consultants Ltd, Sarwat Reza, Library Manager, British Council, Romina Dewan Kabir- Executive Director, Livelihood Education and Development Services and other distinguished personnel were present at the round table discussion.
