Daffodil International University (DIU) has announced an educational scholarship named after Khondoker Abu Talha who was killed by the muggers when he was trying to stop and catch several muggers. Besides this, the university authority handed over a cheque for Tk. 5 lakh of Prime Islami Life Insurance Ltd as life insurance coverage of Talha to his father Abu Reaz Md. Nuruddin Khondoker.
Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman, Board of Trustees, DIU was present as chief guest at the program. Presided over by Prof Dr Yousuf M Islam, DIU Vice Chancellor, the function was also addressed by Prof Dr SM Mahabub Ul- Haque Majumder, Pro Vice Chancellor, Hamidul Haque Khan, Md. Anisur Rahman Miah, Assistant Managing Director, Prime Islami Life Insurance Ltd. Conducted by Syed Mizanur Rahman, Director (Students Affairs), the program offered Doa by Maolana Habibur Rahman Bhuyan for the salvation of departed soul of Abu Talha.
Later, the students of DIU formed a human chain in front of the main campus at Dhanmondi and Permanent Camus at Ashulia demanding immediate arrest and justice of the killers of Abu Talha.
Addressing as the chief guest, Md. Sabur Khan said, we want to keep remembrance of Talha’s courageous sacrifice. In this regard, an educational scholarship has already been introduced in the name of Talha which was approved at the 17th Academic Council meeting of DIU, he informed. Md. Sabur Khan also said that Talha’s departed soul would truly lay rest in peace if we have learnt the lesson that showed us Talha.
Anisur Rahman Mia, Assistant Managing Director, Prime Islami Life Insurance said that there is no property in the world that can fulfill Talha’s fathers ruin.
Even then Prime Islami Life Insurance is feeling proud to standing beside this family. He urged all other universities to come forward to follow the example of Daffodil International University for risk coverage of their student’s life.
Hamidul Haque Khan, Treasurer, DIU said Talha is a name of remonstrance. We have to spread this strength of this remonstrance all over the country. If we can’t do this we will lost our meritorious son one after one like Talha.
