Daffodil International University (DIU) distributed 2000 laptops at free of cost among the students on Wednesday at DIU Permanent Campus at Ashulia, Savar in Dhaka.
Emeritus Professor and Former Vice Chancellor of the university Prof Dr M Lutfar Rahman was present as the chief guest at the Laptop Distribution Ceremony. Dr Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman, Board of Trustees, DIU was present as the guest of honour. Presided over by Pro Vice Chancellor Prof Dr SM Mahabub Ul Haque Majumder the function was addressed among others by Prof Dr Mostafa Kamal, Dean, Permanent Campus, Prof Dr Syed Akter Hossain, Head, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Dr ABM Kamal Pasha, Head, Department of ESDM of DIU.
Before distributing laptops, Emeritus Professor Lutfar Rahman conducted the oath taking part of the ceremony where the students Swire upon regarding the best use of the laptops in academic and education purpose.
Prof Rahman thanked the DIU authority to implement the project “One Student-One Laptop” with the vision of becoming a Digital University in line with the policy of a step towards Digital Bangladesh. He urged the students to make best use of the laptop, He also said that Freedom Fighters had sacrificed their lives dreaming for a beautiful Bangladesh and young generation should mould themselves to make Bangladesh as Digital Bangladesh proving their efficiency to take Bangladesh in a new height.
