Daffodil International University (DIU) distributed 3000 laptops at free of cost among the students in the 14th phase at its continuous process of Laptop distribution at DIU Auditorium recently.
Dr Md. Enamur Rahman, Member of the Parliament, Dhaka-19 and Chairman, Enam Medical College and Hospital was present as the chief guest and distributed 800 Laptop at the inauguration day. The rest 2200 laptop will be handed over to the students gradually within next one week. The program was presided over by Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman, Board of Trustees of DIU. Before distributing the Laptop Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Yousuf M Islam, conducted the oath taking part of the ceremony where the students swore upon regarding the best use of the laptops in academic and education purpose.
The authority of DIU has taken a gigantic initiative of “One Student: One Laptop” program which is one step a head for digital Bangladesh. Every student admitted into Daffodil International University from Summer Semester-2010 and onward is getting a Laptop at free of cost. DIU has so far distributed 16000 laptop yet among the students under “One Student one Laptop” project.
The Laptop will help the students to equip themselves with proper technical knowledge so that they can survive and secure respectable place in the society.
Through this initiative DIU students will get the opportunity to implement digital Bangladesh concept
Dr Enamur Rahman said, With the combination of Technology and skilled management, new generation will take Bangladesh in new height and ‘Digital Bangladesh’ and vision 2021 program will become successful under their leadership.
He also said, when the high-tech park program will be implemented, the country will require 72000 additional Software Engineer, so he urged the new generation to prepare themselves to meet the need of the industry.
Md. Sabur Khan said, technology is now a part and parcel of teaching and learning. He urged the students to be a potential ICT skilled graduate to contribute to the nation developing bright career ensuring proper utilization and application of the Laptop. It is envisaged that DIU graduates can stand out by competing with other graduates both nationally and globally with their skill that they will acquire from this university. He wished that the initiate to provide a laptop for each student free of cost will be fruitful and successful with the mission of forgoing a digital society that will ensure an ICT driven knowledge- based nation.
He informed that from Next Semester Daffodil International University is going to introduce Smart Card for every student which will be another steps towards a Digital University.
He also informed 100+ DIU Graduates achieved PhD and DIU gives highest emphasis on to recruit the best students of the university. Moreover, DIU produced 1000 + Successful Entrepreneur by these 13 years of its inception, he added. He also said that DIU is always careful about the job placement and the students and their career.
