Thousands of youths including students get chance to do for part time job at Dhaka International Trade Fair earning this year, according to EPB sources.
The cumulative income of those are estimated around Tk150 million in the annual caravan.
Sources said, only for Dhaka International Trade Fair, most of private organizations demand experience while go for fresh recruitment but many could not show. The trade fair brings an opportunity for them to gather experience before getting a job.
According to the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) sources, the participating organisations including local and international recruit thousands of temporary sales executives at their stalls to meet the visitors during the fair.
As the participating organisations recruit individually, there is no data at EPB about how many were recruited in the fair. But if each stall recruits five or six persons, approximately 5,000 youths are employed at the trade fair.
“I have applied to several private organisations in last two years but I am yet to get a call from any prospective employer. Finally, I got this job here for one month” Tania Islam Mou, a fresh graduate from a private university said the The New Nation. The trade fair is the opening door to jobs for all, she added.
“The trade fair is a platform of earning extra money and gathering experience as here is the opportunity for everybody to earn Tk 25,000 to Tk 35,000 in one month.
