Corona infection reaches 1,701, cured 445 and 34 dead in Barishal division

Till this report on Wednesday total 1, 701 detected as corona positive, 445 cured after getting treatment and thirty-four died of corona-infections in Barishal division.
Out of the 1,701 corona-positive patients 997 were from Barishal, 196 from Patuakhali, 140 from Bhola 140 from Barguna, 127 from Pirojpur, and 101 from Jhalakathi districts.
Among them 445 corona positive patients got release certificates after cured by getting treatment in the division, said Dr. Basudev Kumar Das, divisional health director. Of them 32 from six districts of Barishal division except Bhola and Pirojpur were newly infected by corona positive within last 24-hours.
Besides 28 from Barishal, Pirojpur, Jhalakathi and Patuakhali districts were cured from covid-19 infection after treatment, divisional health office sources said.
Out of 1,701 corona-positive infected patients of the division 445 cured and received release certificate after treatment in the division.
Besides total thirty-four dead corona victims included thirteen from Barishal district including City Corporation, ten from Patuakhali, four from Jhalakathi, three from Pirojpur, two from Barguna, two from Bhola districts, divisional health director added.
Divisional health directorate sources added that total 16,627 persons were sent intos home quarantine and 1,706 to institutional quarantine in six districts of the division including Barishal City Corporation since March 10, 2020.

Cattle trader killed by BSF in Naogaon

A Bangladeshi cattle trader was shot dead by members of Indian Border Security Force (BSF) at Dakkhin Patari village along Adatala border in Sapahar upazila early Wednesday. The deceased was identified as Abdul Bari Sahu, 45, son of Abu Bakkar of the village.
Abdul Hye, officer-in-charge of Sapahar Police Station, said the BSF members of Khutadah Camp opened fire at some Bangladeshi cattle traders including Abdul Bari when they went to the border area, leaving him injured.
Later, he was taken to Sapahar upazila Health Complex where he died later, said Adatala BGB camp Commanding officer Subedar Abdul Hannan.

Fish breeding centre in Kishoreganj faces problems

The Government Fisheries Breeding Centre is facing manpower crisis. Although the higher authorities have been informed more than once to overcome the manpower crisis, no solution has been found. The Government Fisheries Breeding Center and Training Center started its operation in 1984 with an area of 13 acres .
Haors and canals of Kishoreganj, Sunamganj, Habiganj, Netrokona, B’baria and Sylhet are as the largest fishing reservoir of the country.
According to the District Fisheries Office of Kishoreganj, the Fisheries Diploma Institute was established in Kishoreganj with the dedicated efforts of the Late Syed Ashraful Islam, Former lGRD, Public Administration Minister.
Trainees of 2 batches for a period of 4 years are admitted here every year.
And each batch consists of 50 students. There are 55 people working against 104 approved posts. Fisheries officer posts in Haor areas like Itna, Mitamoion and Austagram and Tarail upazilas have been vacant for a long time. Pollen Fry supplies 10 percent of the country’s total demand from Kishoreganj. The target for the current year is to produce 6,000 kg of pollen fry.
There are 138 government ponds in 13 Upazillas of Kishoreganj. Besides, there are 33,544 private ponds, 147 canals, 241 beels, 28 rivers, 51 haors, 779 Jalmahals (above 20.00 acres), 152 Jalmahals (below 20.00 acres), 397 fish markets, 236 daily fish markets, 172 weekly fish markets, the demand for fish in Kishoreganj is 66,328 metric tons, the target for fish in the district is 77,000 metric tons, the production of fish in the district is 78,483 metric tons, the surplus of fish in the district is 12,155 metric tons. Despite being such a prosperous district in fish production, the plight of Kishoreganj district fish breeding center is like a surprise. It can be seen on the ground that the condition of the banks of the Katiadi fish farm is very bad.
The electricity poles are broken. There are 22 ponds in Kishoreganj Fisheries Breeding Center. The condition of those ponds is also the same.
Kishoreganj, famous for its haor baor, is lagging behind due to invisible reasons and manpower crisis, despite playing a leading role in the country’s fish industry.
Hatchery and fishery owners are apprehending a big loss if the invisible cause is not solved immediately including resolving the manpower crisis. District Fisheries Officer of Kishoreganj Ripon Kumar Pal told the New Nation that the higher authorities have been informed to resolve the manpower crisis. They have assured that the crisis will be resolved soon.
Besides, steps will be taken soon to solve various problems of Kishoreganj Government Fisheries Breeding Center and Katiadi Fisheries, the higher authorities said.
