One held with 1,930 yaba tablets in C’nawabganj

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested an alleged drug peddler with 1,930 pieces of yaba tablets from Rajnagar Hangami intersection under Shibganj upazila of the district on Monday night.
The arrested person was identified as Md. Tota Mia, 22 of Sorapara village under Shibganj upazila in Chapainawabganj district.
RAB said, acting on secret information, an operation team of RAB-5 from Chapainawabganj camp raided the aforesaid area around 9-30 pm and arrested Tota Mia with the yaba tablets.
Later, the arrested person was handed over to the local police and a case was filled in this connection.
3,258 patients recover from coronavirus in Ctg

The total number of recovered patients from coronavirus rose to 3,258 with the healing of 55 more people in the last 24 hours, out of 15,344 infected persons, in the district till 2pm on Tuesday.
“A total of 3,258 coronavirus patients have recovered so far and the percentage of recovery rate stands at 21.23 percent in the district,” Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi, civil surgeon of Chattogram, told BSS on Tuesday.
“The healed patients were discharged from different home isolations and Dedicated Corona Isolation Hospitals of the district as two consecutive real-time PCR tests were found negative,” he said.
One more patient was killed in last 24 hours in the district.
Besides, 118 more people were detected positive for coronavirus in the last 24 hours after testing 692 samples at six COVID-19 laboratories in the district.
Among the newly detected patients, 87 are from Chattogram city and 31 from different upazilas of the district, hospital sources said.
Among the total 15,344 coronavirus infected persons, 10,848 are the residents of the port city and the rest 4,496 are residents of different upazilas of the district.
“Among the total 15,344 coronavirus infected persons, 5,102 are undergoing treatment at isolation units of different hospitals in the port city as 3,258 have recovered and 254 died while the rest 6,730 are undergoing treatment in isolation at their respective homes in the city and district”, Dr Fazle Rabbi said.
Shahriar distributes health equipment among Rajshahi Covid-19 front-liners

State Minister for Foreign Affairs Md Shahriar Alam has handed over health protective gears to the doctors, nurses and health workers in Bagha Upazila Health Complex in the district.
He provided the safety gears from his personal fund so that the frontline fighters can spearhead their services to the patients properly by being protected themselves from the novel coronavirus infection.
On behalf of the state minister, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Shahin Reza handed over the medical gears like 75 personal protective equipment, 450 hand gloves, two cartons of sanitizers, nine pieces of distilled water, eight goggles and five fresh shields among the front-liners on Monday.
Union Parishads Chairmen Rafiqul Islam, Rabiul Islam, Shafiqur Rahman, Saiful Islam and Azizul Azam and local Awami League leaders were present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Shahin Reja lauded the initiative saying this equipment will contribute a lot to containing the coronavirus spread.
Earlier, the state minister has provided safety equipment to the physicians, nurses and healthcare workers engaged in Covid-19 patients’ treatment in Rajshahi with his own initiative.
A total of 3,000 disposable surgical masks, 600 N-95 masks, 300 protective aprons, 100 personal protective equipment (PPE), 200 pairs of hand gloves, 200 protective goggles, 200 face shields and 80 thermometers were handed over to Rajshahi city Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton, Fazle Hossain Badshah, MP, and the civil surgeon of the district.
