A total of 160 people were detected positive for coronavirus in the last 24 hours after testing 873 samples at in six Covid-19 laboratories in Chattogram district.
A total of 245 patients died till Monday by corona virus only in Chattogram district with Monday’s two death .
Among the newly detected patients, 113 are from Chattogram city and 47 from different upazilas of the district, hospital sources said.
The total number of infected patients now stands at 15117 in Chattogram district, Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi, civil surgeon of Chattogram, told BSS on Monday.
A total of 3197 persons were released from the hospital after recovery from Covid-19 infection till Monday, he said.
Dr Rabbi said seven new Covid-19 patients were diagnosed with the coronavirus at BITID, Chattogram after testing 161 samples in the last 24 hours.
Meanwhile, 37 more new Covid-19 patients were tested corona positive at Chattogram Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) after testing 224 samples during the same period.
“Besides, 14 Covid-19 patients were identified at CVASU, Chattogram after testing 114 samples,” the civil surgeon said, adding that 32 more new Covid-19 patients were identified at Chattogram University after testing 154 samples in the last 24 hours.
A total of 26 patients were diagnosed with the disease at Private Chevron Lab, Chattogram after testing 71 samples during the period while 32 people were tested positive after testing 131 samples at Imperial hospital.
Besides, three residents of Lohagara upazila was identified as Covid-19 positive after testing 18 samples at Cox’s Bazar Medical College Hospital in the last 24 hours.
Construction of 199 rural bridges near completion in Mymensingh

Construction of 199 rulal bridges in all 13 upazilas of the district is nearing completion during the 2018-2019 financial year aimed at promoting the road communication system in rural areas.
The bridges are constructing at a cost of Taka over 46 crore with a view to developing the rural economy through developing rural Communication networks, District Relief and Rehabilitation (DRRO) office sources told BSS that the bridges are being constructed under the supervision of the DRRO officials in all 13 upazilas of the district.
The upazilas are Mymensingh Sadar, Muktagacha, Phulbaria, Trishal, Bhaluka Gafargeon, Nandail, Ishwargeon, Gouripur, Phulpur, Tarakandha, Haluagaht and Dobaura.
The sources said that the construction works of the bridges would be completed within a shortest time. So far 95% percent works have already been completed.
After completing the works the bridges would be opened for movement of vehicles trafficking for sending agricultural products different parts of the country, the sources added.
Govt provides financial assistance to non-MPO teachers in Sylhet

As part of financial assistance, the government has provided cheques among Non-MPO teachers and employees of madrasas and vocational institutions in Bishwanath upazila of Sylhet.
The cheque distribution function was presided over by Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Barnali Pal while Upazila Parishad Chairman SM Nunu Miah was present as the chief guest.
A total of 30 teachers of the upazila have received the cheque. Each of the teacher was given Tk 5,000 and employee was given Tk 2,500.

Nur Jahan (45), a mother of five children from Shilashi village at Gafargaon under Mymensingh , committed suicide by hanging herself on Monday.
This incident took place at Shilashi village under Saltia Union of Gafargaon Upazila.The deceased was wife of Khoka Mia of this village.
According to police and local sources, Nurjahan had been suffering from various ailments including stomach ache for a long time. On Monday morning, she committed suicide by hanging herself in the backward of the house without any knowledge of the family members.
The family members informed the Gafargaon Thana police about the matter. Upon receiving the news, the police came to the spot, recovered the body and sent it to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Local said family members could not say anything about the cause of suicide. Anukul Sarker, Officer-in-charge of Gafargaon Thana, said an unnatural death case has been registered in this connection.
Bagerhat ADC corona positive

Md. Shahinuzzaman, ADC (Rev), Bagerhat was identified as a COVID-19 positive patient. It was confirmed by Dr. K M Humayun Kabir, Civil Surgeon of Bagerhat on Sunday. On the other hand, Swapan Das, Upazila Chairman of Fakirhat in Bagerhat district was detected as a COVID-19 positive patient. It was confirmed by Asim Kumar Samaddar, Upazila Public Health and Family Planning Officer of Fakirhat on the same day. After examining their samples in the PCR lab of Khulna Medical College Hospital on Sunday they were identified as corona pandemic patients on Sunday.
As a result, the total number of COVID-19 positive patients rose to 723 in the district. Out of them 568 patients were recovered while some 16 patients died. Bagerhat Sadar Upazila topped the list of croon positive patients in the district. Total number of corona positive patients is 205 while Fakirhat Upazila topped the list of corona positive deaths. 10 out total death 16 of the district took place in Fakirhat Upazila.
Hotel boarder, manager sent to jail

Police rescued a college girl from Hotel Moon, a residential hotel at Sagordi of the city and arresting three sent to jail on Sunday evening for violating the girl.
The victim as complainant lodged case in this connection with Barishal Kotwali police station on Sunday afternoon accusing the arrested three for violating her.
Police admitted her at one stop crisis center of Barishal Sher E Bangla Medical College Hospital.
The arrested three were Sajal Karmakar, 25, of Indurkani under Pirojpur district, Mizanur Rahman Zakir, 53, a boarder and Abdur Razzak Haoladar, 55, manager of the hotel.
The first two were accused for violating the victim and the third-one was accused for helping them.
Abdur Rahman Mukur, officer in charge (investigation) of the police station, said, in the case the complainant college girl alleged that she had love affairs with Sajal since last five years. Sajal invited her for coming Barishal on Saturday afternoon giving assurance to marry and then they renting a room as married couple at Hotel Moon night halt there.
At night Sajal violated her and then assuming that they were not married couple, Mizanur, border of the hotel, claiming himself as member of DB police, entered inside the room with the help of hotel manager. Mizan and hotel manager Razzak ousted Sajal from the room and then Mizan violated her on Sunday early morning.
Hearing hue and cry local people informed police patrol team and police rushed to the spot rescued the victim and detained two rapists and their cohort hotel manager on Sunday morning.
The three went to jail after producing before the court on Sunday afternoon and the victim sent to SBMCH for medical test and treatment, police sources added.
Programmes taken to observe National Mourning Day in Khulna

Different organisations have chalked out elaborate programmes in the city on August 15 to observe the National Mourning Day and 45th martyrdom anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman maintaining social distance.
The programmes, include hoisting of national flag at half-mast in all government, semi-government, autonomous and private buildings, discussion meetings, placing wreaths at the monument of Bangabandhu, distribution of leaflets, posters and screening of film show on life and works of Bangabandhu and special milad mahfils and prayers at all religious institutions.
According to a PID handout issued by deputy director of Khulna M Javed Iqbal on Monday, at least three people in each government, semi-government or organisations will attend during placing wreaths at the monument of Bangabandhu at Khulna Betar premises. For this reason, mourning rally has been cancelled while cybernetic discussion meeting, doa mahfil will be held this year due to Covid-19 outbreak.
Besides, competitions on painting, essay writing, Hamd and Naat and recitation of poems, discussions focusing the life and works of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and national history will be arranged in the DC’s conference room and other places.
Prize distribution ceremony and cheque distribution by the Directorate of Youth Development among freedom fighters will be held at the same places maintaining health guidelines.
Special munajat will be offered after Zuhr prayer at mosques while prayers will be held at temples, churches and pagodas. Khulna District Information Office, Islamic Foundation, Khulna Betar, Khulna University (KU), Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET), Khulna Press Club and other organisations will observe the same programme separately marking the day maintaining health guidelines.
Local unit of Bangladesh Awami League and its front-organisations and different other political parties have taken various programmes marking the day. The city and district units of Awami League and its front organisations have also taken various programmes marking the day here and upazila headquarters in a befitting manner.
The programmes, include hoisting of the national flag, party flags and black flags at half-mast all the party offices in the city and district, wearing of black badges, placing wreaths at the monument of Bangabandhu, distribution of food among the distressed people, milad mahfil and discussion meetings on life and activities of Bangabandhu.
The upazila administrations will also observe the day through similar programmes throughout the nine upazilas in the district. Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) and Khulna District Police administrations has taken adequate measures to maintain law and order on the day.
