A police official died from coronavirus at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) on Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Abul Kalam, 34, hailing from Banik ParaofBogura district. He was anassistant sub-inspector of Rajshahi district police.
Doctor Saiful Ferdous, deputy director of RMC, said that Kalam, who was diagnosed with coronavirus, was shifted to the hospital from Rajshahi Police LinesHospital on June 24.
As his condition deteriorated, he was shifted to Intentsive Care Unit (ICU). Hedied around 1pm.
Md Shahidullah, superintendent of Rajshahi Police, said that Kalam was a ASI of district police and was attachedto thecourt area. He was tested corona positive on June 22. Altogether 9,948 members of Bangladesh police were infected with Covid-19 across the country until Saturday morning. Among the total cases, 5,855 policemen have made full recovery so far, said sources at the Police Headquarters.
6 die in Cumilla

Six people died with fever and cold-related problems at Cumilla Medical College and Hospital in the last 24 hours till Wednesday morning. With the new deaths, 127 people have so far died with the same symptoms at the hospital, said its assistant director Dr Sajeda Khatun.
Besides, she said, 105 people are now undergoing treatment at the hospital and 34 of them are Covid-19 patients. The remaining 71 are receiving treatment at the solation unit of the hospital, Sajeda added.
Kurigram flood situation unchanged

Flood situation in Kurigram district remained unchanged due to rise of water levels in Brahmaputra, Dharala and Dudkumar rivers for the last six days.
Ariful Islam, Executive Engineer of Kurigram Water Development Board, said water level in Dharala River at Kurigram Bridge point is flowing 43 cm above the danger level while Brahmaputra River at Chilmari point is flowing 64 cm above the red level and 53 cm above the danger level at Nunkhawa point.
People in the flood affected areas said they have been suffering a lot due to shortage of dry food, pure drinking water and relief materials as they did not get any relief from the government.
District Civil Surgeon Dr. Habibur Rahman said three children drowned in flood water in the last three days till Tuesday.
They are Mostakim, a 14-month-old boy of Saiful Islam of ulipur upazila, Belal Hossain, 8, son of Amir Hossain of Nageshwari upazila, Shanta Islam, 7, son of Zahed Islam of Chilmari upazila of the district.
ABM Abul Hossain, Chairman of Hatiya union, said the flood water entered the union, forcing 700 people to take shelter on road.
Man ‘attempts suicide’ after killing two daughters in Ctg

A man reportedly attempted to kill himself after ‘killing his two daughters’ at Kaiyash in Patia upazila early Wednesday.
The deceased were identified as Tuku Barua, 14 and Nishu Barua-two daughter of Mokhendu Barua.
Quoting local people, Borhan Uddin, officer-in-charge of Patia Police Station, said Mokhendu used to live in Dhaka while his two daughters at their maternal grandfather’s house after the demise of their mother.

In the PCR lab examination of Mymensingh Medical College (MMC), l6 have become corona positive. Among them, MMC Principal and his wife have also been infected.
The Civil Surgeon’s Office said their reports came on Tuesday night. Civil Surgeon Mashiul Alam said, there are 13 people in Sadar Upazila including Principal of MMC and his wife in the new affected list in the district. Besides, Haluaghat, Muktagasa and Bhaluka Upazila have one patient each affected by the virus.
A total of 1829 patients have been identified as corona positive in Mymensingh district. Sadar Upazila has been the most affected area where 1051 people have been infected there. Besides, the number of patients in Bhaluka-230, Iswargonj-75, Trishal-71, Gafargaon-54, Dubaura and Fulpur-59, Muktagasa-21.
Aktarunnesa, Vice-Principal of MMC said, Principal Chittaranjan Debnath and his wife Dr Monju Rani Debnath are in isolation at their home. Asked if there would be any disruption in the management of the medical PCR lab in the absence of the principal, she replied, college authorities are trying to run everything smoothly.
Woman killed in Kishoreganj

A 40-year woman was salugaraded by some miscreants at Laxiganj (Latifabad) paddy field in Kishoreganj sadar early Wednesday.
The victim was identified as Farida Pervin (40) at Isharganj of Mymensingh.

60-Bed specialized unit for corona treatment at Port Hospital
