Bogura journalist dies just before giving samples for Covid-19 test

A local journalist has died after suffering a cardiac arrest when he was waiting in queue to give sample for Covid-19 test on a hospital premises in Bogura on Thursday noon, reports UNB.
He was identified as Wasiur Rahman Ratan, 63, news editor of Dainik Bogura, a local daily.
Family sources said Ratan along with other family members went to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital to get them tested for coronavirus in the morning. He suffered a cardiac arrest and died on the spot around 12pm. He worked for Dainik Karatoa and Dainik Muktobarta in his professional life.
Bandarban DC tests positive for coronavirus

Deputy commissioner of Bandarban district Mohammad Daudul Islam tested positive for coronavirus on Thursday.
Civil Surgeon Aung Sui Marma said his samples were tested at Cox’s Bazar PCR lab in the night. Later, a medical team visited the house of the deputy commissioner, reports UNB.
However, he will take treatment from home, said Civil Surgeon Aung Sui. A total of 78 people including the Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Minister Bir Bahadur Ushwe Sing have been found infected with Covid-19 and of them 15 made recovery.
Additional deputy commissioner Shamim Hossain said the DC might have contracted the virus as he attended many programme and now he is doing well.
Swechchashhebak League leader shot dead in Chattogram

A Swechchashebak League leader was gunned down by some miscreants at Nanupur Bazar in Fatikchhari upazila on Thursday night.
The deceased was identified as Rashed Kamal, 38, general secretary of Nanupur union unit Swechchashebak League. Quoting local people, police said a group of miscreants, riding on a CNG run auto-rickshaw, swooped on Kamal while he was monitoring the construction work of a road around 9 pm, said Abdullah Al Masum, additional superintendent of Hathazari Police. At one stage, the miscreants opened fire on him, leaving him injured. Later, he was taken to Nazirhat upazila health complex where doctors declared him dead. A tense situation was prevailing in the area over the incident, reports UNB.
Three die with fever in Pabna

Three people suffering from cold, fever and breathing problems died in Bhangua and Sadar upazila on Friday, reports UNB.
The deceased were identified as Ajhar Uddin, 45, of Bhangua upazila, James Subrata Goswami, 50, of Pabna town and Ashraf Uddin, 65, of Arifpur. Civil Surgeon Mehedi Iqbal confirmed the matter and said so far 178 people were found infected by Covid-19 and five died in the district. Meanwhile, health authorities confirmed the detection of record 3471 new patients in the last 24 hours, raising the total cases to 81,523. Since March, Covid-19 has claimed the lives of 1095 Bangladeshis so far including forty-six people in last 24 hours until Friday.
