Ambulance falls into pond with dead body in Natore; seven injured

An ambulance carrying a body fell into a pond at Bagatipara in Natore on Tuesday night leaving seven relatives of the deceased injured.
Confirming the information, Nazmul Haque, officer-in-charge of Bagatipara Police Station, said locals rescued the passengers from the ambulance while the body was handed over to families on Wednesday morning. The injured passengers were immediately admitted to Upazila Health Complex and a private clinic in Doyarampur, he added.
Abdul Hannan, a relative of the deceased, said his brother-in-law Sadek Ali passed away on Tuesday night at Rajshahi Medical College.
Housewife ‘gang raped’ in Chandpur

A housewife has allegedly been gang raped by some men who held her husband at gunpoint at a remote char area under Rajrajeshwar union in Sadar upazila.
The victim is now undergoing treatment at the one-stop crisis center of Chandpur General Hospital.
Herhusband filed a case against six people, said Harunur Rashid, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station.
According to the case statement, a group of miscreants, numbering 7-8 swooped on the house of the victim on Saturday night. They held the woman’s husband at gunpoint and raped her. They also threatened the couple and told them to keep quiet.
On Sunday, the criminals were beaten up by shoes at an arbitration. Angered by the incident, they again attacked the housewife on Monday. Later, the victim’s family managed to flee the spot with the help of the village police and took shelter at a house of one of their relatives. Four of the accused were identified as Firoz Mallik, 22, son of Sobhan Mallik, Sabuj Pradhania, 25, son of Shafi Prodhania, Babul Gazi, 23, son of Bhudai Gazi, Mostafa Pradhania, 21, son of Jahangir Prodhan while the identities of two others could not be known immediately. Mahbubur Rahman, superintendent of Chandpur Police said legal action will be taken against the criminals.
