MP Moslem Uddin, 9 family members test positive

Moslem Uddin Ahmed, MP of Chattogram-8 constituency and his nine family members have been diagnosed with coronavirus.
District Civil Surgeon Dr Fazle Rabbi said a medical team from Boalkhali upazila Health Complex took the samples from the MP and 14 of his family members on June 9 and of them ten tested positive for coronavirus.
His wife, son, grand children were among the infected ones. An employee of the divisional commissioner’s office and a physician were also found infected with the virus on the same day. A total of 108 people were found infected with the highly contagious disease in the district on Wednesday and the reports of the test results were available early Thursday, he said. Earlier, Mostafizur Rahman Chowdhury, Chattaogam- 16 MP of Awami League( Banshkhali constituency), and ten of his family members were infected with coronavirus on June 6.

Woman dies with fever in Rangamati

A woman who had been suffering from fever and cold died at a hospital in Kaptai upazila on Wednesday night.
The deceased was identified as Chemon Ara Begum, 55, cook of Karnaphuli Hydropower Station Hospital and a resident of the Kaptai project area of the upazila. Abu Hayat, medical officer of the hospital, said Chemon had been suffering from fever, cold and respiratory problem for the last 5/6 days. She died on Wednesday night while undergoing treatment at the hospital. Rangamati Civil Surgeon Dr Bipash Khisa, said a total of 82 people were found infected with coronavirus and of them 48 made full recovery.

One dead, 20 injured in Jhenaidah AL clash

A man was killed and 20 others were injured in a clash between two factions of Awami League at Khajura village in Jhenaidah municipality area on Wednesday night.
Faruk Hossain, 35, a resident of the village, succumbed to his injuries on Thursday morning while undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Locals said the clash took place between two factions one led by Abul Hssain and another by Liton. When some BNP activists joined the faction of Liton in a bid to join the ruling party, followers of Abul Hossain got angered. At one stage, the two factions engaged in a clash on Wednesday evening at the village that left around 20 people injured. On information, police went to the spot and brought the situation under control. Mizanur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station, said the policemen took the injured to Sadar Hospital immediately.
Later, two, including Faruk, were shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital as their condition was deteriorating. However, Faruk succumbed to his injuries in the morning while undergoing treatment at the DMCH. “The situation is now normal. Additional policemen have been deployed at the village to avoid further trouble,” the OC added.
