The central committee of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), a student wing of the ruling Awami League, did not function properly since its formation in mid 2018 for which the President and the General Secretary have to shoulder the responsibility.
At this, Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader said “A change in BCL will be dealt with by the Prime Minister herself,”.
Meanwhile, the BCL President Rezwanul Haque Chowdhury Shobhon and its General Secretary Golam Rabbani lost their access to the Ganabhaban since their entry passes had already been cancelled.
It is said that few BCL leaders have been involved with various immoral activities, including making fake studentship in Dhaka University.
In the meantime, four top Awami League leaders Jahangir Kabir Nanok, Abdur Rahman, BM Mozammel and Bahauddin Nasim spoke with the BCL central

leaders regarding the issue last week.
Some 34 former and current BCL leaders got admitted into the Masters of DU’s Tax Management Programme under the Banking and Insurance Department to maintain their student status.
Eight of them contested for the posts of Secretary and members of DUCSU and seven won.
Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at a meeting on Saturday expressed dissatisfaction at the BCL leadership and said that she would dissolve the central committee.
BCL GS Golam Rabbani reportedly set up air conditioner in his DUCSU office on the DU campus, which drew criticism from among the common students of the university.
But BCL GS Golam Rabbani has declined to make any comment to The New Nation over phone.
However, the central President and the General Secretary admitted their leadership failure and prayed time for correction.
